For decades, I practiced and studied astrology without ever questioning why we recognize 12 zodiac signs when there are actually 13 constellations along the Sun's path. Then I discovered Ophiuchus (Oh-fee-u-cus)—the constellation located between Scorpius and Sagittarius—and I knew I had to investigate further.

What I uncovered changed the way I looked at the zodiac and ultimately inspired me to rewrite my original book, 12 Different Men of the Zodiac. I wanted to include Ophiuchus and share what I had learned about the fascinating history connecting astrology, astronomy, and the ancient civilizations that shaped these traditions.

It's A Mars Thing …

Mars in indicative of a man's true inner being; it's how he unconsciously behaves.

Most of us are familiar with Sun signs. We ask, "What's your sign?" and usually mean the zodiac sign the Sun was in when you were born. Your Sun sign is your core "home plate" identity and the main traits that you are consciously aware of. This is who you believe you are; your Sun=your Ego! You are aware of your Self displaying the traits of your Sun Sign, which is why it is so impactful.

But when it comes to understanding a man's inner nature and how he actually behaves, I believe there is another important piece of the story: his Mars sign.

Mars is about action. It speaks to how we pursue what we want, how we respond under pressure, how we assert ourselves, and how we unconsciously move through the world. It can reveal the energy behind what a man does—not simply how he appears on the surface.

Our upbringing, environment, experiences, and choices can certainly influence how these qualities are expressed. But beneath those layers are the natural tendencies we were born with. Sometimes the man you see on the outside and the man he truly is on the inside can seem like two different people. His Mars sign can offer another window into that difference.

That's why I encourage you to look beyond the Sun sign when you're trying to understand the men in your life. His Sun sign may tell you something about who he is; his Mars sign can tell you much more about how he acts.

Each Mars sign has its own chapter in this book. The book is divided into several sections and is written especially for the lay person (or beginner). The first section of each chapter begins with a fictionalized account of how each Mars sign male will react to someone at a company party. It's a party where everyone in the company must attend so there are a variety of people in attendance.

Section two gives a more detailed description of the Mars in each particular sign and capsulizes the energy of that sign with a name, which is intended to be humorous and not insulting.

Section three details how each Mars sign will/should evolve as he matures and gets more in tune with his true spiritual nature.

Section four is a personality profile of all the Sun signs—the dates you are familiar with—are used to give who have Mars in the same sign.* Available only through my book:13 Men of the Zodiac

Section five lists the Mars signs and Sun sign compatibilities.

*In this book, the traditional dates for Sun and Mars signs are from the Solar Tropical Ephemeris which are the only dates you are familiar with. Mars and Sun in Ophiuchus dates are from Sidereal or Constellation astronomy. If you wish to be even more accurate, I have provided the traditional Solar Tropical Sun sign dates, as well as the Sidereal/Constellation Sun sign dates in the Appendix (of my book). So feel free to use these dates as well for additional information. This was done to simplify your understanding until you become more familiar with the truth which is found in sidereal constellation zodiac or astronomy.

This is not an astrological guidebook, and it doesn't provide any astrological forecasts. You'll never understand all the planets simply by using this website. This is a simplified and entertaining way of describing the influences that the planet Mars has on the human personality and the particular way the planet influences men. This information is based on decades of professional astrological consultation and research along with a careful evaluation of human psychology. Hopefully, it will provide you with insight into what makes a man "tick."

Hopefully, I've written this with enough entertaining flair to encourage all of us to understand more about the men in our lives. We need to live with men with less confusion and more compassion and understanding.

This book can help a man understand himself and other men better. It can also help a person who needs some clues to understand the men—friend(s), father(s), son(s), husband(s), and lover(s)—in their life. If you'd like to make some new discoveries about the men in your life, this book should be very informative and entertaining.

Men, if you'd like to reaffirm, discover, or modify the kinds of traits that make you the man you are, or if you are someone who wants to gain more insight into the men in your life, then look up the birth date and find the Mars sign in the Appendix charts at the end of this book.
